Please Don't Stop the Music

Here is the final entry from the Costa Rican adventure! Not much to say about the whitewater rafting (pictures below). The real story is the following video. Just released today, the contents of this video were prepared for the three birthday boys on our trip: Alun, Darell and Kevin. I hope you enjoy watching as much as we did making it - be sure to stay for the credits.

Vote, it's your civic duty!

If you use the internets as much as I do - especially Web 2.0 apps, you should take time to recognize your favorites. Use the link below to cast your votes.

Scarry...they have a vote

I'm all for freedom and the American way, but this is ridiculous. These middle-aged women have ruined a gay anthem! Next time I am out at Blake's and I hear the real Weather Girls, I might have to leave the room to vomit. If you have a pair of ear plugs and a strong stomach, listen away. Also notice how Estelle Costanza's doppelganger becomes a floating head in the Vietnam scene.

Make it Work!

If you missed "Fierce, the Hot Mess Makeover Show" on SNL, then you might not enjoy this post. If you want to see the clip, it is here.

The house next to us in Costa Rica (and the one next to them) was filled with gays from Boston and Rhode Island (it's a small state). They threw down a challenge on Tuesday of our trip: PROJECT RUNWAY. Stephen and Alex took it seriously (of course), and we were all in. After out trip through the rain forest, we came home and began to prepare.

Alex and Stephen were in charge (of course), and they went right to work on sketches. The also searched the house for materials (per the rules, only materials in the house at check-in could be used - wigs and accessories from the BlueFly.com accessory wall were allowed).

We had the neighbors over to our deck (because it was a hot tranny mess), which we lined with the rope lights from the banister. As you can see from the pictures below, the 'catch of the day' and 'Cruella' were no competition for our Scarlet 'Fever' O'Hara at her wedding in the jungle (and her bride's maid with the abs). Hope you enjoy the pics as much as I did.

You know we won - but the judges were too drunk to announce 1 winner. It was like when I was on the YMCA swim team - everyone swims, everyone wins.

Boil me some meat!

Today we celebrate the eradication of snakes from Ireland, food coloring used in rivers and beers and three years of knowing Alex. You guessed it - St. Patrick's Day. When everyone has a little Irish in them (if they're lucky), and alcoholism is acceptable (in and around the Chicagoland area). In honor (or honour) of the day, I thought I would share my grandma's recipe for corned beef and cabbage. I'll be celebrating tonight with my family (our meat is in the crock pot as I type), so if you feel so inclined, corned beef is on sale at Kroger and the recipe is here!

American Psycho

Our good friends at Saatchi & Saatchi Auckland used the real deal to promote a showing of the movie on TVNZ. Good for them! I prefer Christian Bale (below).  Warning: NSFW

Lost, found and burned

So what do you do when you go to the beach? Go to the beach. We tried to do just that on our first day. About 45 minutes after the first group left to search for the beach, my party left the house with the same destination in mind. After two wrong turns (and lots of backtracking) we found the other group - lost - and they joined us in our search. We then made the mistake of assuming that since the beach was down, we should follow a road in the same direction. When we got to the bottom of that road we discovered that it was a private property, so we turned back.

Before I continue any further, I should inform you that is has already been about 90 minutes since we left, and I said I would apply sunscreen when we got to the beach. And I had my backpack on (sexy farmer's tan).

After returning to the top of the hill, we met up with our remaining two housemates who had slept in and had breakfast. They informed us that we had walked right past the sign pointing to the beach (only one more mile). Damn them and their everything bagel!
We finally made it to the beach, and it was worth it! We ended up walking to a little cafe down the beach, having margaritas and playing in the surf. We ended up taking a cab back to the house (we needed it after our long hike).

Check out the slide show of the entire trip below.

Pura Vida

I'm back - sun-burned and relaxed. I'll post pictures and stories later tonight. Stay tuned.
